Paint Color Trends of 2015

paint

Paint colors have been ever changing. Colors come and go but maybe its important to first know how to paint your walls in the first place. Most people put a little paint on their roller and stick it on the wall, usually the middle. They begin rolling. What they don’t understand is they start rolling in the middle of the wall and the top half and the bottom half are neglected to receive any paint. Then they load their roller and begin the process in the middle of the wall again. It’s important to start with the basics. Load your roller with paint. Get it almost dripping. Get on a ladder if you need too and start in the upper right hand corer of a wall in your room. Begin as close tot he trim as you can manage and roll down and then back up in a slightly sideways motion until you have exhausted the paint roller of paint. Then take your brush and edge trim while it is still wet o you don’t have any silly lines. Repeat this process in squares throughout your room, moving down and then to the side in this rhythm.

Take this new knowledge and apply it to this seasons bright and lovely colors. They are all about vibrancy and life, Vibrant pink, turquoise, yellow, coral, and lime green take center stage during this new trend. Capitalize it and add some life to your house. Grey is also a focus, my favorite color which is a pleasant surprise among all of the brightness. It balances them out nicely and would add an excellent accent wall. So whatever color you choose, you cant go wrong this season with the seasons trends!

Do the KIND Thing

Do the KIND thing. That is what KIND brand recommends. They recommend you do the Kind thing for your body, your taste buds, and the world. As far as premade bars are concerned, the health community has continually recommended KIND bars above all or the only type of premade bar to be consumed at all so I decided to do some research.

While browsing the website and comparing it with my box, they are completely congruent. “We do things differently, and we choose healthy, tasty, convenient, wholesome, economically sustainable, and socially impactful”. “We make simple, all natural products and deliver healthy all natural products and deliver healthy snacks made only from ingredients you can see and pronounce:

The main ingredients are Oats, Quinoa, Millet, Amaranth, and Buckwheat. I must admit the Healthy Grains Peanut Butter Dark Chocolate in particular has a special place in my heart. I am also particularly fond of the granola.

KIND LLC focuses on making the world a little kinder, one act at a time. There is a count on their page, (currently 531,019 acts of kindness) since their mission began. KIND inspires people whether big or small, a letter to a friend or simply taking the time to say thank you. It is doing the kind for your body, your taste buds, and the world.

KIND sells Strong and KIND, Healthy Grains Bars (a personal favorite), Healthy Grains Clusters (including Oats and Honey Clusters with Toasted Coconut), Variety Cubes, and Variety Packs.

I know I sound like a spokesperson for KIND LLC (I’m not), but it you truly get what is advertised. This premade bar is all natural. I can finally read and understand the ingredients on the back and its quite comforting as a consumer.

What’s in a name?

IMG_0606

Tonight, on CNN, the royal baby is a topic of discussion. I must say, after the purchase of my purebred Golden Retriever, I was barely fazed at this seemingly pretentious name. My six-month-old puppy’s “paper name” is “Oberlin Farm’s Sir Edward Truman IV”. Yes, he was an expensive as his name implies, I can buy the rights to breed him, but I immediately need to make that decision or neuter him this month and notify the breeder. His mother came with papers, I cannot remember her ridiculous line of names, but his father’s line of Sir Edward’s __________ made it a fill in the “all American name” situation. In my house it is the forth of July every singly day my Golden’s name is so American and pretentious. So, what is in a name?

If you are a man, according to the article, you may have bigger shoes to fill if you are an Alexander or a George as opposed to a Jordan or an Aric. Maybe you will need that name as a future CEO. Parents name children after their family members or friends because of the positive connotations, however I was simply named because my dad saw my name in a particular magazine, took noticed the spelling was different, but there still is nobody in our lives to make my name warm and fuzzy, including me. The future king’s name has slide shows and thousands of articles critiquing his name and speculating why they chose his name and what kind of king he will be. Prince George Alexander Louis isn’t even as old as Oberlin Farm’s Sir Edward Truman IV and he has his Christmas’s planned to the hour.

If you are part of the American Kennel Club (or soon to be), when choosing your dogs paper name it is quite important because they do not allow duplicate names for show dogs. (If you have ever wondered at Westminster how these poor dogs have such ridiculous names, this is why.) The AKC will ask you to choose another name if your name is already taken, and creative names and spelling draw attention and are actually encouraged. Although the American Kennel Club, sometimes your breeder, traditions from the studs proceeding him will ask for your dog to have long pretentious names, you will have your name for him, like your name for your baby. I have “Truman” And yes I still have the Forth of July at my house every day, but not because he was named after President Truman.

The A1A that travels through the Florida Keys to Key West and the road splits right or left. Take the road right and it turns into Roosevelt Avenue and it’s a beautiful view of the outer keys. The road turns again into “Old Town”, this time left and becomes Truman Avenue, my favorite place on earth. I will spare the details but its near Mile Marker 0, Hemingway’s House and the lighthouse, the harbor, and every single time I look at Truman, I feel a bit of that happiness I feel in Key West, I feel instead unconditional love. A picture perfect name.

Newtown’s Golden Gift

Newtown, CT K9 Comfort Dogs United!

If you would turn the television on today, or visit CNN.com, I am sure you wouldn’t find an article mentioning the permanent placement of Maggie, K9 Comfort Dog at Christ the King Lutheran Church in Newtown, CT. She will be joining Addie, K9 Comfort Dog, who is already in Connecticut. I will forever remember the tragedy that occurred before Christmas in that tiny Connecticut town, and how God sent the community nine miracles to do his work in the form of unconditionally loving Golden Retriever’s. When the tragedy struck, the golden’s handler’s immediately traveled to Sandy Hook. Their handler’s are doing God’s work as well. These men and women are all volunteers. They travel with their golden’s to disasters like the Boston Marathon, where my best friend was one corner, or less than a half mile from the finish line. If you own a golden, you understand why the K9 Comfort Dogs choose Golden Retriever’s. They understand how you are feeling. If you are crying they come and sit beside you, if you are hurting they find you and stay beside you until you are no longer in pain. If you are feeling stressed you can feel their breathing change to something resembling concern until they are able to calm you down, usually by a head in your lap or to your chest. I am blessed with Truman, my six month old puppy that has given me my life back. He is our third golden who joins our family golden, Max, and is proceeded by my brother, my parents “son” and my first best friend, Shadow. I thank God for golden’s daily, however I also pray that God gives LCC K9 Comfort Dogs strength, to continue to provide comfort and love to everyone in need. They now have over 60 golden’s, and a puppy in training named Martha, and you can find them on Instagram @K9COMFORTDOGS . God bless them, and I will be praying for their safe travels as they leave Newtown today to head home.
